Wolves' historic year drew to a close with the terrific trap door triumph over fellow strugglers Leeds Utd at Molineux.
In a must win game Wolves showed the sort of fighting spirit that they will need to show in abundance to retain Premiership status.
DJ stuck with the same defence that Thierry Henry battered on Boxing day and decided to start with Miller, Camara and Iversen in a bold attempt to get a much needed goals. With Leeds boasting a front 2 of Viduka and Smith another tough 90 minutes lay ahead for the rock bottom Wanderers.
The majority of the 29000 crowd were stunned into silence within 3 minutes of the kick off. Wolves yet again failed to defend a set piece. Harte's corner was headed in at the near post by Duberry. It was only the powerful defenders second goal in 3 and a half years. Wolves 0 Leeds 1
Three days after Christmas and Wolves were still handing out gifts.
Wolves looked stunned but Leeds failed to build on the early goal and gradually Wolves started to look more relaxed than the nervous visitors.
Miller looked for a break through but his smart header was saved well by Robinson.
Wolves worked tirelessly and almost levelled through Newton on 12 minutes. Butler nodded down from a corner only for the Wolves winger to blast over from 20 yards.
Wolves finally got the equalizer they deserved on the 20 minute mark. Camara's poor corner was met with a wild swing from Leeds striker Smith. The ball beat everybody and dropped in at the far post. Wolves 1 Leeds 1
Some good luck at last for the men in Gold. Wolves now played with more purpose forcing Leeds defence to make several dubious challenges including a booking form Matteo for a foul on Ince.
Wolves, missing Irwin through injury wasted a couple of promising free kicks the former Éire Player would of relished taking.
Smith looked lively on the break for Leeds but failed to make Oakes stretch himself too much.
Half Time saw Wolves go in deservedly level but with many in the ground feeling more should have been done with Leeds looking so shakey after Smiths own goal.

DJ sent out an unchanged team sensing Leeds were ready to buckle under pressure form his first choice eleven. How right he was with just 2 minutes of the half gone good work on the right saw Newton collect the ball on the corner of the goal area. His perfect cross was met with a towering header from Iversen. The ball looped over the hapless Robinson and into the net. Wolves 2 Leeds 1
A frenzy of noise saluted the Norwegians quick fire goal.
The next goal was crucial and both teams went close around the hour mark. Smith was denied by the superb Craddock while Robinson saved well from Millers glancing header.
Leeds the won a series of corners in a desperate attempt to get back into the game. Wolves defence looked strong although Pennent was giving Naylor a torrid afternoon. The young Wolves defender was unlucky to be booked for a late challenge in the middle of the park.
As the game wore on Leeds frustration boiled over with a number of crude challenges. The worst of these came 14 mins from time. Naylor showed some neat control in front of the away dug out only to be hacked down by an awful challenge by Matteo.
Feeling festive ref D'urso gave the Leeds man a card, a red one in fact leaving the visitors a real mountain to climb.
With just 8 minutes to go Kathloul replaced the impressive Newton in hope of catching Leeds on the break late on.
With 90 mins on the clock Wolves finally made the game safe. Camara burst through and was unlucky to see his stinging drive cannon off the far post. Luckily, yes to slices of luck in one game("I wish it could be Christmas every day"), the ball fell to Iversen who tapped it in to an empty net. Wolves 3 Leeds 1
The old gold faithful could hardly hear the full time whistle 2 minutes later as the celebrations started as soon as the ball had left Iversen's boot.
Wolves now have renewed hope after all seemed lost so early in the game. With a couple of inspired yet reasonably priced signings and a fighting spirit shown here Wolves could yet survive!!
