Match Report by Deck Shoe Wolf

Woeful Wolves were held to a home draw for the second time in a week as Leeds fustrated the Molineux men. With both sides showing massive changes from December's Premiership clash it was obvious to the majority of the 28,000 crowd that both sides lack a cutting edge.

With a squad size 'not as fair through as a chip' DJ was forced yet again to make changes and play people out of position. Naylor came back in for the injured Bjorklund, while Cameron replaced Kennedy on the left in a familiar 4-4-2 formation. Leeds also went 4-4-2 with Butler and Duberry in defence, a partnership many believe a more ambitious board should have secured to star in gold shirts this season.

Wolves attacking the Stan Cullis stand in the first half started brightly and no one typified Wolves early enthusiaum more than Leon Clarke, the youngster proving a handful for the Leeds defence.

It was Kenny Miller however who created Wolves first chance. The transfer listed Scot turned Butler superbly before forcing Sullivan into a fine save. From my seat in the Jack Harris the shot looked to be going wide but the Scottish stopper took no chances.

The lively Clarke then went close twice in a minute. The 19 year old saw a header sail over the bar and then saw a crisp shot saved by Sullivan.

Not for the first time in his career Ince saw a 50-50 challenge opponent stretchered off. The unlucky Radebe was replaced by Watson.

Leeds turned defence into attack well but the wayward Ricketts directed his header wide. (Life post Smith & Viduka wis proving to be tough for the visitors).

Wolves ended the half the stonger side, winning a couple of corners after good work from Olofinjana and Cameron. But typically Wolves wasted the set piece opportunites, with former Wolves man Butler marshalling the Leeds defence well.

Half time Wolves 0 Leeds 0

Leeds settled down well and started the 2nd half a much more composed fashion than the home side. When Wolves did get into gear they created 2 quick fire chances with some neat football.

Newton's cross proved just too high for Clarke as his head barely grazed the ball. Clarke was again denied minutes after when Sullivan saved his fierce shot after the youngster was played in by Miller. With 15 minutes of the half gone Cameron was the latest Wolves player to be introduced to a stretcher. Thankfully the Scot waved it away and was able to carry on after some treatment.

Leeds seemed content to play for the draw but forced Jones into action on the hour mark. Deane set up Pugh who's shot gave Jones a comfortable save. Leeds made a change with Joachim replacing Ricketts as the visitors looked to snatch all 3 points.

Wolves were still on top entering the final 20 minutes with Miller firing just wide. Three corners in a minute still failed to produce a goal as each delivery was met by a solid wall of white shirts.

Andrews replaced Naylor late on, the Wolves left back still looking groggy after receiving treatment.

With just 4 mins to go Wolves were gifted a chance to win the game. Miller picked up Camerons pass in the box, the scottish striker was cinically fouled by Duberry just as he was about to shoot. Penalty and a red card for Duberry. Miller stepped up to take the spot kick himself, could he repeat his scorcher at Stoke? Could he *******s! Sullivan dived to his left to palm away the former Hib's man's effort. The final whistle signalled the end of another frustrating 90 minutes, 3 games and still no win.

With an injury ravaged squad and another poor pre-season it's no surprise that Wolves have started off slowley. One crumb of comfort is the fact our understrength team still looked better than Leeds strongest eleven. If we cut out the silly mistakes than vital wins will surely follow.

Final thought : Burly 6 footers climbing all over your back, some authoritarian dressed in black constantly watching your every move and abuse from all corners....Lee Hughes couldn't cope with the Premiership...How's he going to manage 6 years in prison....?
