Report by Deck Shoe Wolf

Two unusual things happened at Molineux on Tuesday night, firstly I had to use my season ticket to gain entry to watch a match and not just to use it to purchase FA cup tickets. Secondly, for the first time in eight games Kenny Miller failed to score and thus missed out on setting a new post war record.

Miller's night of frustration was shared by Wolves players and fans alike as chance after chance went begging against a very defensive looking Watford side.

Wolves night of frustration in front of goal started right from the kick off. With a little over sixty seconds on the clock, Colin Cameron turned well in the box but from six yards out he saw his shot go wide following some smart link up play from Ndah and Miller. Moments later Wolves had their first corner but it proved fruitless when Ndah put his header wide of the target. Even when Wolves managed to get an effort on target Watford keeper, Chamberlain, produced a fine one handed save from Cameron's stinging drive. Wolves were enjoying a dominant opening quarter of the game and were breaking forward with frequent menace.

On twenty minutes Ndah once again showed a clean pair of heels to an opposition defence only to see his shot smothered by the impressive Chamberlain. Even the ref got in on the act of frustrating Wolves, when he turned down a strong penalty appeal. Both the crowd and players were left incensed by the officials decision not to penalise Ardly's handball from Lescott's header. As the half wore on the tempo dropped and both teams were reduced to long range efforts which never really tested either keeper.

Watford seemed happy to play for a draw, so it was once again up to Wolves to play all the positive football. Ince (later described by DJ as "drained") was replaced by Andrews and Proudlock replaced Rae as Wolves changed to a more attractive 4-2-4 formation. On sixty three minutes Wolves carved out the best chance of the match, when Ndah crossed to an unmarked Miller. The Scotsman hit his shot early only to see the ball sail inches over the bar, Watford's only real threat came with a quarter of an hour left to play. Stephen Glass saw his angled drive saved by the rarely troubled Murray. Kennedy went from provider to striker with a superb curling shot but sadly the ball flew the wrong side of the post. Even the late introduction of Sturridge could not prevent the final score finishing a disappointing 0 - 0.

Despite climbing up to fifth in the table, the result still highlighted some worrying flaws. This draw made it just three points from five home league games. With back to back home games in the next week, Wolves need to produce the kind of firepower shown so frequently on their travels. If that can be achieved then a top six finish should be a certainty.
