Report by Deck Shoe Wolf

Oh my god they got killed by Kenny!!

Wolves got back to their free scoring ways on Saturday with a thumping victory over mid table Crystal Palace. The Wolves fans were left celebrating the first home win since 7th December thanks to Kenny Miller's magnificent hat trick.

On a grey afternoon at Molineux, Wolves made their first change in four games after virus victim Newton recovered sufficiently to replace Alex Rae.

Crystal Palace playing in a changed all white kit and defending the goal at the Stan Cullis stand were immediately under pressure. Butler's superb pass split the Palace defence for Kennedy, only for the wingers by-line cross to drift over the incoming strikers. With only 8 minutes gone, Wolves were dealt a blow when Ndah limped out of the action clutching the back of his left leg, he was replaced by Proudlock. Just a few minutes later Palace were effectively reduced to ten men when manager (Jasper Carrot Head) Francis was forced to replace Johnson with former Wolves man Ade Akin-Bad-Buy. Johnson had failed to recover when his promising run was ended by crunching tackles by Butler and Ince. Akin-Bad-Buy's first touch saw the ball hit both his legs before skidding off behind him - "trademark stuff".

On eighteen minutes Wolves almost took the lead when the in form Miller twisted and turned only to see his shot go just wide of the Palace goal. As the half progressed Palace started to look stronger and made another substitution on twenty-five minutes when Routlidge replaced Riihilahti in a tactical switch. He quickly beat Naylor before seeing his pacey cross cut out by Murray. More Palace pressure gave them their first corner. Derry's corner fell to the head of Akin-bad-buyee, but his header was saved well by Matt Murray. Wolves too came close from a set piece, when Irwin's twenty-five yard free kick fizzed just wide. With forty minutes on the clock, Wolves broke the deadlock. A poor Palace clearance fell to Proudlock wide on the right, his angled drive flew past the goal but Kennedy's quick return cross was bundled in by Miller Wolves 1 Palace 0.

Palace still looked dangerous and went close when Routlidge once again beat the suspect Naylor before whipping in a cross. Luckily Butler was on hand to clear the ball just ahead of Adebola. Wolves were still looking good on the break Proudlock and Cameron combined well to send Miller through but he was kept at bay by some heavy handed defending by Powell.

Palace were enjoying most of the possession but were caught out when Proudlock raced clear. The young strikers early shot was kept out by an agile save from Berthelin. As Wolves looked to kill off the game, Naylor almost made up for his dodgy defensive display. The Wolves left back made a good run and then played a clever one-two with Cameron only for the Palace keeper to smother the shot.

Wolves finally made it two nil when sub Sturridge was on hand at the near post to score from Kennedy's cross Wolves 2 Palace 0. Wolves were now in control and made it safe with the best goal of the game. Miller latched on to Cameron's through ball, from twenty yards out hit an unstoppable drive which beat Berthelin at his near post Wolves 3 Palace 0. King Kenny crowned a fine display by completing an hat trick in added time by slotting home a penalty in front of the South Bank Faithful, after he was brought down by the keeper. Wolves 4 Palace 0.

Kenny Miller's first Molineux match ball combined with keeping the dangerous Akin-Bad-Buyee quiet was met with much delight by the home crowd as the heavens opened over the Golden Temple. More importantly the conversion of the last grasp spot kick sent Wolves above Notts Forrest into fourth place. If Wolves can repeat this performance over the next few weeks then they should easily cement that much coveted place in the top six.
