Wolves took a massive step towards the playoff safety by mauling Mark McGhees's in-form lions at Molineux yesterday. The inform Londoners had no answer as Wolves swept them aside in a superb reply to Ipswich's win on Good Friday.
Wolves had the luxury of playing in front of a full house consisting of only Wolves fans after Millwall fans were banned (what a shame, they are such a delightful bunch!). As I took my seat I was hoping the Millwall defence would be as generous as our own club, I had just received my player of the season voting card and had been given some free WWFC condoms, courtesy of the community office.
Wolves playing to a 4-4-2 formation made a great start to the game when Kennedy's superb pass found the onrushing Cameron. The midfield man seemed to have gone too wide, but still managed to get a shot in. The ball was cleared by Ryan but only as far as Newton who fired the ball home Wolves 1 Millwall 0. And Newton's first goal since October.
Wolves were looking to kill the game off early and Ndah and Ince both went close to doubling the lead. Miller was also looking to get in on the goal action and headed just wide when he had found time and space in the area. Millwall had a rare chance on goal when Butler conceded a free kick. Wise curled his shot goalwards but Murray proved as safe and reliable as a Wolves condom by catching well. Wolves still looked the better team but were relieved when Harris blasted over on the stroke of half time.

Wolves again started brightly and immediately won a corner. Kennedy's looping corner was met at the back post by Butler but his tame shot was saved by Warner. Wolves were still well on top with Cameron running the game in midfield. He was the next to go close with a stinging shot which was palmed away by the busy Warner. Kennedy managed to dribble into the box, but it proved to be a false alarm much to the relief of the Millwall defence.
DJ replaced a tired looking Miller for Sturridge in the search for the elusive second goal. It finally came after what seemed like an eternity of grinding away. Ndah penetrated the Millwall defence with a through ball. Cameron latched onto the pass and got just inside the box before shooting home. Wolves 2 Millwall 0
Wolves made it three just minutes later with one of the goals of the season. Newton collected a pass from Ince, skipped round a defender before expertly chipping the keeper Warner to make it 3-0. Wolves 3 Millwall 0 Wolves played out the last ten minutes comfortably, in fact the only effort came from Wolves fans berating the unused Claridge.
The feeling before the kick off was that this was a must win game. Wolves did that with ease and now the pressure seems to be on nervy Notts Forrest. One more win should be enough. How sweet it would be if it came in a bank holiday bonanza at Norwich!
