Report by Deck Shoe Wolf

Wolves ended the domestic league campaign with a frustrating score draw against already promoted Leicester City at Molineux yesterday.

With the awards shindig being left until the final whistle, the pre match build up was pretty normal stuff, except for Wolves debating who the preferred play off opponents would be.

The 28,000 crowd were even treated to fireworks, although in full daylight, they were about as effective as Lee Hughes in the premiership.

For the second week running, DJ tapped the resources of his experienced squad and made six changes to the team who drew with Sheffield United. Pollet made a rare start, Blake returned from suspension and Ince played despite the concerns of many of the Wolves faithful. Even Leicester left out key players including Muzzy Izzit and our old friend Paul Dickh**d.

The game itself was a typical last day encounter played at half pace in glorious sunshine. Wolves had the best of the early exchanges and Blake went close with a shot from a narrow angle. Wolves as in so many recent games were driven on from midfield by the impressive Cameron and the Scotsman forced a fine save from Walker with a fierce strike. On the half hour mark ref Lewis limped out of the action, leaving the linesmen and fourth official in some confusion on who would replace him. After a few minutes of frantic paper, scissors, stone - it was decided Williams would take charge (Andy Williams and Roger Whittaker being two of the officials - how many times do you see that?)

He had little to do as Leicester seemed about as eager to attack as they are to pay their debts!!

The second half started where the first left off. The game desperately needed a spark and it finally arrived with just under an hour gone. Miller collected Newton's short pass just inside the Leicester half. He drifted in from the right beating Taggart, before sliding the ball past the helpless Walker.Wolves 1 Leicester 0 and possibly the best goal the Scotsman has scored in a prolific season.

Both sets of fans were united in cheers when Flowers came on for his final appearance with 15 minutes left. With the clock ticking all seemed well at Molineux, we even thought we'd finally been given a competent ref in Andy Williams (it was just too good to be true). He couldn't take his eyes of Pollet and Harshly awarded a penalty when the Frenchman's hand hit the ball when he fell after an aerial challenge. Benjamin scored from the spot kick, with just 5 minutes left - and didn't use an elbow once this time! Wolves 1 Leicester 1

Most Wolves fans hung around afterwards to see Murray receive young player of the year and Lescott get player of the year ( a true testament to the youth set up at Wolves). With news that it would be Reading in the playoffs it was left to Sir Jack to issue the final war cry.

Lets hope the team do it this time for him and for us.
