Team Ratings
The average rating for the team in the 2002-03 season was 6.45. Within this there was considerable variation. The highest rating for a match was for Preston away (7.6) - a match which Wolves won 4-0. The lowest rated performance was for Leicester at home in the league (5.50), but the match was an end-of-season match with nothing at stake with Leicester already promoted and Wolves already in the play offs. The match in which Wolves' opposition got the highest rating was against Rotherham in the league cup (7.09) and the lowest was Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium (3.82).
Best Player
Jolean Lescott was perhaps unsurprisingly the highest rated player in the 2002-2003 season, obtaining an overall rating of 6.8. This was pretty consistent, although he did save some of his best performances for the cups and play-offs. He was the highest rated player in league matches (6.8) and in the play-offs (7.8), but trailed in cup matches behind Ince and Ndah. Looking at league matches only, Lescott was the highest rated player in the months of December, January and April/March combined. His rating of 6.8 represents a small improvement on his rating of 6.7 in the 2001-02 season.
Goalkeeper
Murray was the highest rated keeper, with his rating of 6.4 beating Oakes' 6.2 by some distance.
DefenceLescott and Irwin both got into the PFA's Division One team of the season, and they were the two highest rated Wolves defenders with 6.8 and 6.5 respectively.
MidfieldInce was the highest rated midfield player with 6.6, finishing slightly ahead of Rae. Midfielders Kennedy and Cameron also had relatively high ratings with 6.5 each.
AttackThe highest rated forward was Miller (6.3) followed very closely by Ndah and Blake (6.2). The later two forwards suffered from inconsistency with Ndah's excellent February and Blake's March both being preceded and followed by poor months.
Cups and play offsInce was the highest rated player overall in terms of cup matches (however his absence from the Southampton match may have saved him from a low rating). Ndah also had a high rating for his cup appearances (7.3), as did Lescott (7.1). Lescott was the highest rated player in the play off matches (7.8), followed by Ince (7.3) and then Newton (7.0).
