Come-back kings Wolves grabbed all 3 points against lowly Leicester in a
match the Molineux masses will be talking about for years to come.
Henri Camara finally worked out how to use those bright orange boots as he
smashed din a dramatic late winner to seal a win that looked so unlikely at
half tine.
DJ stuck to the team that earned a credible draw at Fulham last week. The
buoyant home crowd were at last coming to Molineux sensing a win was
achievable against the bottom of the table foxes.
It was Leicester however who made the brighter start. Izzet was unlucky to
see his shot hit the outside of the post after shrugging off Craddock's
challenge. Wolves just weren't at the races and looked second best every
department.
Naylor's hopeful through ball provided Camara with Wolves first chance. The
Senegalese international outpaced Elliot but again missed an easy chance
when he shot weakly at Walker.
Leicester punished Wolves immediately by taking a deserved lead. Izzet's
corner from the right was met by Les Ferdinand and his bullet header flew
into the net. Wolves 0 Leicester 1
Leicester looked well on top and doubled their lead soon after. Another
corner - this time from the left - was again met by Ferdinand. The statuesque
Wolves defence looked on in horror as the ex Spurs man's header again
crashed into the back of the net. Wolves 0 Leicester 2
Wolves recent solid defence were looking rattled. DJ replaced Gudjonsson
with Newton in a desperate attempt to get back into the game. This gave
Wolves a more familiar 4-4-2 shape, but unfortunately did not give the
immediate affect as Leicester still looked the better team. Irwin had to
stay cool as he headed over Gillespie's dangerous cross.
Wolves still looked badly disjointed and the defence was at fault as
Leicester grabbed a third goal on 35 mins. Craddock's tame header allowed
Ferdinand to beat Irwin to the ball allowing Scimeca to hit a crisp angled
20 yard shot past Oakes to give the Foxes a comfortable lead. Wolves 0 Leicester 3
Wolves almost pulled a goal back on 37 minutes. Blake slid in to meet a low
cross on the edge of the 6 yard box but couldn't make enough contact to send
it goalwards.
Leicester finished the half strongly and should of made it 4 nil. Ferdinand
did well to shake off Irwin but his lacklustre shot went straight at Oakes.
The chorus of boo's from the home crowd were no more than Wolves deserved
after a truly awful first half.
Surely no amount of harsh words by DJ could lift the dejected home side.
Half Time Wolves 0 Leicester 3
DJ put on Kachloul for Miller - he would play on the left as Camara lined up
with Blake upfront. Wolves needed goals and this line-up was our best chance.
Wolves started the half looking much stronger and only poor control from
Camara stopped him getting in a shot from a good position. Wolves good
second half start reaped an early reward as Cameron pulled a goal back.
Blake forced his way into the penalty area and his cross was met by the
Scottish number 10, his low hard shot gave Walker no chance. Wolves 1 Leicester 3
The early breakthrough Wolves needed gave us hope of at least a draw.
Wolves playing with a new confidence now had Leicester on the back foot.
Kachoul was denied by some desperate defending.
Leicester's nervous play was summed up when Gillespie stupidly handled
Newton's cross in the penalty area. Cameron smashed in the penalty to take
Wolves within touching distance. Wolves 2 Leicester 3 GAME ON.
Stunned Leicester made a triple substitution with the much hated Dickov
enraging the home crowd by taking an age to walk off. The new players faced
the same problem trying the stop the constant wave of Gold & Black pressure.
Wolves could not be stopped and got a deserved equalizer on 68 minutes.
Irwin's deep cross was headed in by the impressive Rae sending Molineux
wild. Wolves 3 Leicester 3
The Scotsman's goal must have given watching Scotland boss Berti Vogts food
for thought.
Shell-shocked Leicester's frustration boiled over with Scowcroft and Hignett
both picking up bookings. Rampant Wolves were almost caught out when Bent
raced clear only to be denied by Oakes. With time running out Wolves
completed one of the most amazing come back's in recent memory. Irwin's
forceful run and cross eluded several pairs of legs before Camara lashed in
his first goal of the season. Wolves fans almost raised the roof in a
frenzy of noise. Wolves 4 Leicester 3
After that there would only be one winner. The final whistle was greeted
almost as well as the late winner with the Molineux stands rocking to their
foundations.
This was a truly Jekyll and Hyde performance with all the good and bad
elements of Wolves on display in 90 breath-taking minutes. I could pick out
the bad points and we will have to play better teams than Leicester but
right now I just want to enjoy reaching the dizzy heights of 15th place in
the Premiership.
