What is it about this present Wolves team? They seem to have an unenviable way of making poor teams look good - the latest being a struggling Cardiff team, who at the start of the day languished in the relegation zone. You would expect Wolves to come out with all guns blazing after two successive away league wins and confidence soaring. However this is DJ's Wolves, seemingly no tactics, no passion and rock bottom confidence. With Lescott injured, Lowe came in at right back and Clyde moved into the centre of defence to partner Craddock. A position I feel that Clyde is not suited for and I feared the worst. From the kick-off Wolves limped about treating it as a training ground game. Is it arrogance? or just plain stupidity? No team have a divine right to win, every point has to be earned. DJ shows no passion for the club and complete apathy towards a devout and now often embarrassed fan base. Wolves' apathy could have been due to being blinded by the massed ranks of Burberry. It was everywhere, even pushing the rising tide of Stone Island to one side, as both sets of "hard men" tried to out check each other. With Wolves strolling about Cardiff took the initiative and should have scored after only 1 minute after Craddock faffed about on the edge of the area, but DJ's favourite godson was more than equal to the task. With Cardiff's forwards running rings around a static Wolves defence, it was no surprise when they took the lead. Further hesitation saw them gift a goal as the incoming shot deflected off Lowe, giving Jones little chance. Wolves 0 Cardiff 1 As is often the case, Wolves need to be behind to get kick-started into the game. This time it took less than a minute as virtually straight from the kick off, Ince found Soel on the left wing after a fine dummy by Cort. Soel's daisy cutter pinged across the face of an open goal for Cort to stick out one of his huge legs to steer the ball home. Wolves 1 Cardiff 1 The goal seemed to wake up a dopey Wolves team and they sensed that they could get another. Just 4 mins later a long punt up field by Jones was flicked on by Cort and Miller danced between two defenders to hammer the ball home. Miller's joy soon faded as in celebration he turned to see the flag happy linesman ruling it out for offside. Most of the 27,000 crowd thought it a perfectly good goal, me one of them, however this seemed to sum up wolves' day. Clyde was subbed for Bjorkland as he needed lengthy treatment for what seemed an elbow by a Cardiff player who was lucky only to be booked. Wolves now had the central pairing that leaked 80 goals for Sunderland in their magnificent premier season seeing them be the worst ever Premier League team! However, the momentum kept with Wolves who finished the half the stronger, several times going close to scoring but finding their keeper in fine form. Half Time Wolves 1 Cardiff 1 With the way the first half finished you would expect much the same for the second. But no, obviously DJ's pep talk sent Wolves to sleep and soon Cardiff were back on top. With Jones asleep on his line and our impressive defence fumbling about, a cross was met by a Cardiff striker to easily head home. Wolves 1 Cardiff 2 Wolves fans now booed very time Jones had the ball - a little stupid I believe as it isn't only Jones' fault, the whole team were piss poor. You could tell Jones was a bit upset by it all as he constantly "eyed up" the crowd and even put his finger to his lips once to silence the mocking crowd. This can do nothing for a team with rock bottom confidence. This time there was no fight back by Wolves and within ten mins Cardiff had increased their lead. This time an ineffective punch out by Jones was met by a fine volley into the back of the net. Wolves 1 Cardiff 3 Wolves huffed and puffed but did little to pull the game back as Cardiff could easily run the game . With 5 mins left Wolves fans were given a little hope as Ince headed home from close range, but the goal was met by muted fan celebrations. Wolves 2 Cardiff 3 a late consolation goal which made the game look more even than it probably was. Wolves have now conceded 6 goals in their last two home games. It doesn't need a scientist to see where the problem lies. Go into almost any pub in Wolverhampton and every one says the same - A poor keeper in Jones whose defence have no confidence in, coupled with a pretty poor defence anyway. What the hell is DJ thinking pairing Craddock with Bjorkland? With the rest of the defence so poor you can't expect Lescott to come in and work miracles. Having let two of the better defenders we had go at the end of last season we should have signed a half decent central defender - still this is what DJ gets paid for!!!! On this showing we will be lucky to be playing in the championship league next season, division one awaits?? Full time Wolves 2 Cardiff 3 |
