Match Report by Superstitious Stu

Diamond Hodd bores to another Boxing Day score bore draw!

In what even Hoddle said was like Groundhog day, Wolves stuttered to his fourth 1.1 draw, each time going behind to an early goal. He still states that we can get into the play offs doing a "palace" (where interestingly we are in the same place and have the same number of points after the same number of games), but we really do have to start winning games like this.

Sitting in the Steve Bull thanks to our "rover tickets" I had wise words from my Grandad Tom to help me through a sometimes torturous 90 minutes! (or could it have been the other way around?).

A very healthy attendance saw just two changes from the last 1.1 draw, with Seol replacing Olly and Cameron replacing Cooper in straight diamond replacements. However the game started -like the others before very badly. More BAD defending from a corner (when will we sort out set pieces? - not till Gray and Connor go that's for sure) as the Wolves defence overdosed on Xmas pudding a headed knock down was somehow scrambled over the line. Wolves 0 Brighton 1 and any festive cheer left in Molineux died.

Wolves then huffed and puffed, dominating the play but not really going anywhere. Brighton were happy to sit back and watch what appeared to be a training day kickabout.

Cort and even Craddock went close, whilst Brighton's Dutch keeper was again in fine form - how many times do we see poor teams battle and have a keeper making so many good saves?

In the 33rd minute fortunes happily changed as a fine threaded through ball from Seol, found a perfectly timed run by Miller who beat the offside trap to pick his place in the back of the net. Wolves 1 Brighton 1 With a sense of victory Wolves laid siege but could not turn any of the possession into goals.

Half Time Wolves 1 Brighton 1

The second half started slowly not the way we would have expected. Wolves had the majority of the game but could not send Mark Maghoo home unhappy on his return to the golden temple.

Michael Oakes became a spectator as wolves again flattered to deceive and yet another poor performance saw many of the Molineux faithful leave early to find festive cheer in yet another xmas beer. The Brighton keeper now saving from Cameron before doing very well from a fierce rocket from Andrews. He then even saved from his own player as a wicked deflection almost kept him off guard. In the dying seconds substitute Clarke was just a toenail away from scraping Seol's cross over the line.

The jury is still out on Hodd's diamond, but one thing is for sure, with all these draws we are going nowhere except an early re-appointment with the Black Country derby!
