A glorious day for football, bright sunshine, a good sized crowd and anticipation of any result putting us back where we belong on top of the league. Within 3 seconds of the kick off Burnley showed us, and particularly Naylor, that they were no team to go messing with. A crunching tackle leaving him hobbling. From the kick off, the same old tactics were in use, defend and try and score on the break. The beginning was as usual full of frenetic energy, with Wolves looking for an early goal to settle the nerves. On 10 minutes we got what we needed, from a corner the ball was somehow scrambled away only for Kennedy to whip in a fierce shot which took a wicked deflection and ended up in the back of the net, 1.0 to Wolves. The goal set Wolves fans alight and urging the team on for a another quick follow up. On 12 minutes a similar situation saw Kennedy's shot deflected just wide. Wolves opened up the Burnley defence with some neat attacking play particularly between Newton, Kennedy and Cameron. On 19 minutes all the additional pressure paid off a knock down from Blake somehow found Rae completely on his own and a clever overhead kick saw us 2.0 up. It was all Wolves now as Burnley just couldn't cope with the effervescent midfield and 2 pronged attack . On 27 Kennedy was pulled down in the box for what seemed like a clear penalty, but we all know what refs are like these days. This seemed to make us more hungry, however on 30 minutes a good run by Kennedy saw him pull up pretty sharply clutching his hamstring and he was substituted straight away, with Proudlock coming on into the middle of attack and Branch moving over into Kennedy's place. Lets hope it's nothing too dramatic as he is our biggest playmaster at the moment. On 38 minutes some neat play saw us get a free kick on the edge of the area, Naylor stood over it but a thunderbolt from Cameron saw the ball take a slight deflection into the back of the net. Wolves 3.0. The rest of the half was all Wolves as we went for more with Burnley seemingly lying down and giving up. A very satisfying first half; Wolves 3, Burnley 0. The second half was a bit predictable, the game basically won Wolves settled back and let Burnley come at them. It was more end-to-end stuff as Burnley tried to get back into the game, with Wolves now sitting back and having a go on the break. It was mainly Burnley. who had a lot of the play but were very poor in front of goal. Wolves only had a Newton shot just over and a fierce Naylor drive as any sort of chance. Burnley should have had a penalty on 65 mins, but hell what are refs for anyway. Wolves became a little edgy, as Burnley tried to get back into the game but we settled down for the justly deserved win. Cameron was subbed on 83 mins hopefully just to save him for Wednesday. Overall an excellent win, as our home form is still not right and Burnley after all are fourth in the league. We took our foot off the gas in the second half and seemingly missed Kennedy's surging runs. But WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY................... Keep it up lads - almost there man of the match Cameron Attendance: 24, 893
