New signing Nathan Blake gave the crowd (20,742 - and if you believe that you will believe that A*****n are a premiership side) added impetus. Anticipation was high going in to a game with the team propping up the division with no win to their name. Stockport were there for the taking, however the dual effects of eleven players behind the ball and a totally incompetent, whistle happy ref told a different story.

We wuz all over them, but we still lack that final penetration and lust for a win. At times we looked very apprehensive, just like the opening game against Portsmouth. Passing backwards does no good, neither does the obligatory long punt up field, reminiscent of the Graham Taylor glory days. When playing against a determined defensive team obviously happy with a point, we seem to have no idea.

With a rare forage upfield, Stockport took the lead. A hopeful toe poke at goal saw the ball cannon off Robinson's shoulder, the whistle happy ref only too happy to wear out his pea and give a handball just on the edge of the "D". The oddly named Kuqi had no hesitation in punishing a defensively asleep Wolves. After the goal we went to pieces with no idea and clue how to get back into it. Just on injury time in the first half, the impressive Blake(about time we had some premiership quality) was brought tumbling down in the box. Cameron's spot kick was aimed for perfection, bouncing off the post to frustratingly thunder across the goal line and out for a goal kick. I bet in another 1,000 penalties he won't be able to do that again.

The second half was much the same with Wolves totally domineering the visitors but still clueless in midfield( please sign this week Alex). On 69 (weh hah) minutes we got the break we deserved. One of Kennedy's crosses hit the underside of the bar and bounced off Robinson to trickle over the line. The announcement gave the goal to Kennedy (much to his delight), he must have been happy as it was his poorest game since joining ( his drink driving conviction and his abuse of Beckham, taking its toll). The jubilation lasted all of 2 minutes when Wiss caught our defence asleep again and a comical up and under from Taylor saw the visitors back in front. Wolves, and the crowd, finally woke up and began bombarding Stockport's goal. On 78 minutes A nifty through ball by an impressive looking Miller saw Blake score on his debut. This saw much more from Wolves, particulally a free shot on goal from Miller (who should have scored) but we still lack that killer touch. Lescot should have been sent off for a blatant pull back when Kuqi was through on goal (there is something for an incompetent ref), but for all of our dominance a draw was probably all we deserved.

Bring on Alex rae!!!!
