The chant "s**t ground, no fans" doesn't really apply to Wimbledon as they don't have a ground either. The few fans that they do have launched a scathing attack on the plans for them to move to Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes - A soul-less place, without any history, which tries to do things by numbers and has an over-inflated view of itself. And concrete cows. Nothing like Wimbledon FC at all then.....

With Kennedy still injured the surprise was to see Camara on the pitch, instead of Sinton. Although I'm not a great Camara fan I must admit he looked OK in this game. Not as good as Kennedy of course, and probably not even up to Sinton's standard - but for his own standards I think Camara played a blinder.

The other player starting his first game of the season was Sturridge - in on loan from Leicester - but more of him later.

Wimbledon kicked off and started brighter with McAnuff (or something) shooting over the bar and David Connolly (yet another ex-Wolves striker) having a shot saved (and caught at second attempt) by Oakes. Surprisingly Wimbledon don't play the long ball any more and were playing the better football than us. Their best chance of the half was when a deep cross was headed back across our penalty box by Connelly (ours not theirs) and one of their players headed point blank at Oakes who made a brilliant reactoion save.

We had few chances in the first half, but Cameron had a shot blocked after a great back heel by Blake and their Goalie saved from a Camara shot after Blake had put him through.

The second half started with a few chances for Wimbledon. The ball was passed right across our defence for Cooper to shoot just over the bar, and then Hughes skipped through a few challenges and shot just wide from distance.

Then our best move of the match. Cameron won the ball back after Naylor had lost it in midfield and fed it out to Camara whose great cross was headed just wide by Blake. Cameron also put Sturridge through but his shot was blocked.

We were getting more into the game and with about ten minutes to go came the breakthough. Blake laid a good ball through to Sturridge who had the ball taken off his foot and their goalkeeper scooped the ball up. The ref - to the surprise of Wimbledon (and to be honest most of Wolves as well) ruled that it was a back pass rather than a tackle and awarded a free kick inside their box in a central position. With the entire Wimbledon team in between the ball and Wimbledon's goal it was no surprise when Blake's shot was blocked. The ball spun off to our left wing and - with everyone expecting it to go for a corner - Sturridge picked the ball up and from a seemingly impossible angle he steered the ball past the goalie at the near post. One nil, and another striker scores on his debut.

Wimbledon tried to get an equaliser in the final ten minutes, but our defence held firm. The Wimbledon fans thought that they had a penalty when David Connolly seemed to be pulled back by Butler inside the area and clean through on goal, but the ref didn't give it. Thanks ref!!

Final whistle and another three points away from home, in a weekend when a few competing teams dropped points again. Perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result, but do you care? I certainly don't.

PS I found out after the match that the ref was from Staffordshire. Alright our kid?
