How well did W*** Brom do in the Premiership? The Swampies were saved from absolute and utter embarrassment by an unbelievably bad Sunderland. Sunderland were beaten in 15 consecutive games at the end of the season, and managed to break 2 of the 3 'records' listed below. They had an abysmal goal for tally of 21 - 7 goals behind the previous lowest figure. They also got only 19 points all season - an amazing 5 points lower than the previous record low.If not for the 4 points and 3 goals that W*** Brom gained from the Black Cats, the swampies could have achieved 2 of the targets set for them below. As it was the just scraped a measly 2 points more than the previous Premiership low, and scored only 1 more goal than the previous record low. On goal difference the swampies actually did relatively well - managing to score only 36 less goals than they conceded. W*** Brom did manage one record of distinction. The swampies managed to end up a massive 19 points from safety, a feat never before achieved by a team placed second from bottom (and previously achieved by a team finishing bottom only once - Ipswich in 1994-95). Below - recorded for posterity - is the swampies 'glorious' Premiership season. Lets hope Wolves can do a little better, eh? |
