Match Report
Report by Nero Wolf

This match was given extra importance by W*** Brom's win against Forest the night before. I listened to the last ten minutes on the radio, and so heard their late winner. You could also hear the "boing boing" of the single brain cell that they share as they realised that they could yet catch us. Only a win could settle the nerves as the scum embark on an easy run in and we face Burnley, Man City and Millwall. [see Fat Stat's run-in stats here]

Wolves started the match with as much of a changed side as I can remember. Andrews was replaced by Cameron. Sturridge, Kennedy and Butler were all out injured and in came Miller, Ndah and Pollet as replacements. It was the little bargain up front that we missed the most as Miller had trouble justifying his £3 million price tag.

Miller started brightly, but unfortunately ineffectively. Very early on he broke clear, but blasted his shot over the bar.

We were looking more determined than we did against Grimsby, but Norwich looked a better side as well. Whenever we looked to within striking distance there was always a Norwich player in the way.

A last ditch tackle robbed Blake in the box and a Newton shot from a corner hit Miller when it seemed to be goal bound. It began to dawn on me that this might not be our day. In fact itcould have been much worse except for a brilliant save by Oakes when Norwich caught us on the break.

The half ended with a brilliant save from their goalie after a Blake shot from a Camara cross.

In the second half we continued to dominate possession, but the best chance fell to Norwich. A clearance up filed fell to one of their forwards who was one-on-one with Oakes until Pollet slide in to rob him of the ball.

After a couple of missed chances by Ndah and Newton, Pollet was stretchered off injured after having his header blocked.

A Camara free kick and a powerful shot by Rae were both - like everything else - well saved by the keeper. Even loads of extra time didn't help. We could have been there all day and the ball wouldn't have found the back of the net. I'm beginning to think that Lady Luck is a W*** Brom fan.

Two weeks ago thinking the unthinkable meant preparing for the Premiership. Now its taken on a sinister tone and I wish someone would wake me from this nightmare. To be robbed by moaning Megson's B*ggies would be hell on earth. It can't happen. Can it?
