| Wolves 1 Swindon 2 22/08/2001
| Report by Bizkit Wolf |
Oh dear oh dear oh dear, back to the good old days again. The game started off reasonably well, in front of an odd looking ground with the John Ireland closed, giving the atmosphere of a central league game. Maybe Fat Moxey should have just let every one in for £1, as only 7,598 could be bothered to turn up. Jones decided to rest a few players, with the much berated Mohammad Camara coming in for Naylor and the much misinterpreted Ketsbaia getting a much needed boost to his transfer fee. In fact it was Ketspa that did a "Coventry" with a fierce shot rattling the underside of the crossbar early on. Swindon's goalie looked very shaky but Wolves again showed their lack of fire power and hardly tested him again that half. Swindon almost went a head when Oakes flapped as a Swindon striker had a complete free header but thankfully only managing to clip the outside of the post. The first half fizzled out to a complete boring mush. The second half got off to a bang, as within 3 minutes Howe raced through unchallenged to smash in a goal from absolutely nothing. Wolves totally bemused by this goal raced forward from the kick off and with in a minute, what seemed to be a pretty timid shot by Dinning was deflected in to equalise the score. With a fair number of fans still finishing off their half time pints, Swindon attacked straight from the kick off as both teams seemed to come alive and with just another minute Pollet needlessly bundled over a Swindon player in the box for O'Halloran to put Swindon ahead again from the spot. Wolves attacked but showed no real teeth, with Proudlock being guilty of missing several good openings, as they tried to get back in the game, several substitutions and formation changes came to no avail and we went down 1-2, with the players going off to loud boos. Mohammad Camara had a mare of a game and should have been pulled off well before half time. Lets hope that this is an eye opener for Jones, I would have liked to have seen a decent run in this Mickey Mouse cup - after all silverware is silverware. Still now we can concentrate on the league. Final thoughts - what a pile of S****e. Ps Moxey can I have my money back? Attendance: 7,598 Best Player : Robinson (2 votes) Proudlock (1 vote); Ketsbaia (1 vote)
