| Match Report | Report by JD Wolf
The game started off well with the clouds of Wednesday night's fiasco seemingly forgotten. A crowd of only 20,257, not helped by a very poorly supported Watford, was in a buoyant mood. Vialli's Watford began well and looked, at times, dangerous up front particularly the very nippy dread locked "gypo". Chances were few and far between - both teams seemingly trying to pass the ball around on a neat pitch. The game turned on 9 minutes when Cedric Roussel's cross cum shot was deflected into his own net by Vega. The announcement (if you can hear it, on Wolves' very poor system) declared the goal for Roussel, but later it was officially given as an own goal. This goal woke up the Wolves fans and gave the game a bit more impetus, but still Watford looked poor in front of goal, mainly due to the solid performances of Butler and particularly Lescot. Even Pyscho having a better game, now that the weight of the captaincy has been taken off him. The second half carried on as the first with the ball being carried from one goal to the other as both teams looked for a goal, but neither really making the right sort of penetration. Some dodgy refereeing decisions and some bad tackles did little to improve the game, with Proudlock rounding the keeper to slot the ball home only for the flag happy "assistant referee" to rule it out for offside. With about 15 minutes remaining Robinson made way for our new signing Colin Cameron who came on to a resounding welcome but made little impact in the short time he was on. Ketsbaia and Sinton also made brief appearances after Watford were reduced to 10 men for an awful lunge by Vernazza, but again had to few minutes to prove anything. Overall a pleasing victory, with the defence looking good, but we still are missing that clinical lust to win games that are there for the taking. Man of the match - has to be Lescot! Attendance: 20257 Best Player : Lescott (4 votes); Newton (2 votes); Dinning (1 vote) Notes: Wolves' first home win since the 3-1 defeat of West Brom in March. Cameron's first appearance for Wolves.
