Most of the results went our way again over the last week, since that dismal performance at Norwich and so all that was needed was just a simple win and we would be back where we belong - at the top!! Besides how can you have any sort of respect for a team sponsored by a lollipop?

Some enforced changes to the line up saw Connelly on for Muscat and Roussell on for the injured Blake. As usual the anticipation was high for what seemed like a straight forward game against a struggling side seemingly destined to leave division one the wrong way.

A very subdued start, not like the frantic ones against Forest and Burnley, even the crowd was lifeless and small probably cus most people were watching it at home on the box. Wednesday haven't won a league game at Molineux since 1968 and the last few have all been draws. An early expedition into the Wednesday half saw us win our first corner on 3 minutes - when was the last time we scored direct from a corner? ( over to you Fat Stat - who looks remarkably like everyone's mate fat penny pinching Moxey - no insult intended) [I don't know when we last scored a goal from a corner, and I DONT look like Moxey - Fat Stat], so there was no surprise when this corner came to nothing. A teasing Newton cross on 7 mins saw the ball glance off Proudlock's head but then unfortunately Kennedy had to be replaced by Sinton after aggravating his hamstring injury. We have seen before what happens when Kennedy is not on the pitch, and this proved to be no exception. The game soon drifted off with no urgency by Wolves, we looked like we lacked any cohesion, invention, impetus spirit or desire to win - and that's the way it all ended up. The first real attempt on goal was on 23 mins, by Wednesday, with a shot just past the post. A few minutes later Oakes did well to cut out what was virtually a clear cut chance for Wednesday as they seemed to start believing in themselves. The game switched as Proudlock's good run ended up with Roussells shot charged down - our best chance so far. Then on 42 mins, Cameron for once took control and smashed a looping shot just over the bar after tenaciously winning the ball in midfield. This upped the crowd a little as basically this was what was missing from our play.Proudlock then summed up the first half performance with a very timid shot on goal. The boos at half time said it all.

Half time 0.0

The second half started a little better, with Jones' roasting still ringing in their ears, with Wolves now attacking the North Bank end. A nice Proudlock cross saw Newton in two minds with him completely messing up with only the goalie to beat. However we still seemed to lack something - maybe the players wanted to be down the pub, which is exactly where I wish I was at this moment. We had several half chances but never really looked like scoring. Then on 62 mins a dreadful lunge by the usually impressive Lescott saw what surely should have been a penalty (albeit on the line - but a definite foul), thankfully the ref was wearing old gold and black. On 65 mins an excellent Naylor cross saw Rousell hammer the ball into the side netting - when with an open goal he really should have done better. Proudlock was subbed for Branch and a little later Robinson came on for the in-effective Newton (his worst game this season?), but both still proving to be ineffective. The game then drifting out into oblivion with neither side really looking to win.

This was probably one of our worst performance this campaign, the boos still ringing in Jones' ears as he kept in the team to give them the drilling that they deserved. Lets hope that his drilling was something that Darth Vada would have been proud of!

Verdict - pile of sh***. Where do we go from here? Still I suppose if any one would have said that we would be 2nd, with Burnley top a third into the season - what would you have said. Sounds good to me but we really need to kill off these sort of games.

Keep the faith
